2010s
Adriana Robb ’16 is now attending Frank McCourt High School. She’s very much looking forward to being involved in their sports program, particularly volleyball. Adriana has also become an activist for rights for women and LGBTQ issues. She hopes to continue to be thoughtful about world events as she pursues her academic endeavors.
Adriana joins her mother in an all-women Brazilian drum line called Fogo Azul. She attends marches and parades, and helps lead the band and in supporting important issues. Adriana hopes to become one of the drummers soon. Look for Adriana in a variety of different places around the city with Fogo Azul!
Dora Butner ’11 is currently attending the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. She is participating in their College Experience Program, a residential program that facilitates local business internships and focuses student experiences on skills, choices and independence. She writes, “you may be interested to know that the teddy bear that I got when graduating from Parkside is here with me and has the tassel that I wore on my cap back in 2011, attached to its own cap. I put it there many years ago and more recently added my middle school tassel.”
Andrew Isaacson ’11 has authored an article in The Brown and White, Lehigh University’s student newspaper, titled “What it means to be a journalist.” It is a timely piece about the importance of the First Amendment’s guarantee of a free press. "The big problem is that when the press and First Amendment rights are under attack, so are the values of a democracy. The right to know and the right to seek the truth are what keep a democratic nation stable,” he says. Read the full article here.
2000s
Isabel Singer '07 studied film and animation at Sarah Lawrence College, where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts with concentration in Animation and Illustration. Today she is an animator and illustrator living and working in Queens, taking on a variety of types of work from 2D animation, motion graphics, character design, concept art and more. Aidan Gibbons ’05 is beginning his third year at Harvard, where he is studying mathematics and statistics, and is thinking of getting a secondary degree in energy and environment. In school he has participated in theater, holds a board position in the Consulting Group, the Institute of Politics and the Impact Investing Group. In terms of the future, he says, “I’m not super sure, just taking everything one step at a time, but I’d love to work on large societal problems like the environment and global income inequality.” After leaving Parkside, Aidan attended the Town School and Bronx Science.
Justin A. Curmi ’02 is currently a freelance writer who writes about philosophy, social issues, and the trajectory of politics. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Baruch College in philosophy and political science in May 2015. His writings are featured in Huffington Post and ZME Science. In addition, he has an extensive background in politics with a focus on interpreting current events and information for nongovernmental and governmental organizations.
